Only the Human Firewall Stands Between Hackers and Your Data

CISO Interviews, Featured, Frank Gillman

It’s no secret that employees – whether they’re your employees, a client's, or a partner’s – are the weakest link in your cybersecurity program. Regardless of an organization’s product, service, size, or industry, employees play an integral role in ensuring the business operates efficiently. Unfortunately, employees also play an integral role in exposing the organization’s customer records, financial information, and intellectual property to unauthorized parties. It seems every day there is news of yet another phishing attack in which an employee is duped into clicking on a malicious link or file attachment, unleashing malware into the network. Despite countless technology solutions and training programs, CISOs know they can’t completely prevent employees from leaking classified information.

CISO Street sat down last year with Frank Gillman, CISO for Lewis Brisbois to explore the challenges he deals with on a daily basis and the lessons he’s learned in his role. In this video, Frank discusses why his clients’ employees keep him up at night.

Kuwait, 1990 I’m launched out of a submarine a few miles off the coast of Kuwait City. When I swim to shore, I quickly change into my dry land clothes—a full burka. I was a six-foot-one Marine posing as a good Muslim woman. The catch, beneath the modest...
